Full Moon Rise

Full Moon Rise. Full Moon rise over Squamish BC. This was shot after the sun went down as the moon started to rise. It was magical sitting on the balcony, I took a bunch of shots before I told my family the moon was out! Tee hee!.

Social Distancing Arbutus. Been spending a lot of time in the woods these days for mental sanity, and it seems that there are even some trees adhereing to social distancing recommendations. Like this lone Arbutus.

A life Twisted. Last weekend went for a hike and found this arbutus tree that seems to be confused about which way is up. Just twisting like a cork screw out to the salty inlet. I thought it was pretty cool..

Coming Round the Mountain

Coming Round the Mountain. Back in the summer we visited the BC Forestry centre in Duncan, and they had an awesome, working steam engine that travelled around on a small loop. Only a bit of waiting and you can see this train lumbering through the woods at a super slow pace..

Steel and Steam vs Wood and Green

Steel and Steam vs Wood and Green. Today we visited the BC Forest Discovery Centre, which featured a steam engine that we got to ride on. I personally enjoyed trying to capture it as it cut through the green forestry. Star Wars, the original series, had natural colours as "good" (The Rebels) and hard metal colours as bad (The Empire). Kind of the same here. Which is good and which is evil to you? Or is it just a train?.

The Running Trail. A few weekends ago, I took my GoPro with me on a run through the woods. As I came up a hill the sun had finally come out and was coming through the trees. I absolutely love running on this trail in Thetis Lake Regional Park..

Trees managing to hang on

Trees managing to hang on. Iguazu falls is massive. Like totally massive, without a helicopter, you can't get the whole thing into one picture. While walking down the Brazil side of the river, looking at the beautiful falls at the end of Argentina, this photo emerged. I loved the contrast between the falls, the trees and the clay (red) rocks. Beautiful. With 44,000 cubic tons of water going over these falls, I'm surprised these trees were able to hold on! Longing for the Day. I haven't had time to get out and take as many new pictures as I've wanted, so I started going through some old shots. This one caught my eye, remembering back in 2009 when I went to Maui, Hawaii. Just the relaxation of sitting on the beach watching the sun go down. How I long for that day again! Minor Repairs to Power. This building on the far side of River Liffey that I was unable to walk to easily, just looked so powerful to me. I twas both sadening and heartening that this building had scafolding on it. Sadening because it's such a powerful building it seems like it shouldn't need that. Heartening because the Irish are maintaining the power of the buildings! View the larger version on Flickr

Still Standing

Still Standing. This is the casle of Dublin, Ireland. The turrit in the center is part of the original castle, but the building connected to the left and the church on the right are fairly new, although they seem to still fit in. I'm actually standing on the castle helicopter pad, which used to be the "Black Pool" or "Dublina" in Irish (whcih is where Dublin got it's name). View the larger version on Flickr
