8 Maids a Milking

8 Maids a Milking. The Buchart Gardens really does a magical transformation of their gardens into a Christmas wonderland this time of year. So much so that the park is more packed after 5pm than it is before. For the kids, they have a scavenger hunt to find the 12 days of Christmas. I thought the "8 maids a milking" looked pretty ghostly under the tree branches. What are your thoughts?.

Token Red Tree

Token Red Tree. Ah the fall colours in BC, the ever-green province. One thing I miss from living in Ontario is the plethora of fall colours. But here in BC you get the ocean, and a single red tree with a crisp breeze (not pictured ;o) ) to indicate fall.

Square Junction

Square Junction. Again at the Forest Discovery Centre this steam engine caught my attention. Engine #25 was never really far away on this figure-eight track with this square junction right in the middle..

Ready for the Wedding

Ready for the Wedding. Inside of Hatley castle there are some gardens, and low and behond a place for poeple to get married. This walkway veranda was pretty awesome. Who wouldn't want to get married here?.

Steel and Steam vs Wood and Green

Steel and Steam vs Wood and Green. Today we visited the BC Forest Discovery Centre, which featured a steam engine that we got to ride on. I personally enjoyed trying to capture it as it cut through the green forestry. Star Wars, the original series, had natural colours as "good" (The Rebels) and hard metal colours as bad (The Empire). Kind of the same here. Which is good and which is evil to you? Or is it just a train?.

Hatley from the Gardens

Hatley from the Gardens. Hately Castle is one of the coolest landmarks in Victoria. Technically it's in Colwood, but it's appeared on many different movies, my favourites being X-Men with Xavier's School for the Gifted, or Deadpool. Today we ventured into the manicured gardens off to the side of the castle and got a brilliant view. I thought it best to share..

Poison Jungle

Poison Jungle. Again at Butterfly gardens, they have a very small poisonus frog exhibit. This little guy was perfectly squatted in the jungle floor waiting for me to touch him, which of course I couldn't through the glass. But I did manage to capture this little gem through the glass..

I See You

I See You. Visited the Butterfly Gardens here in Victoria and this parrot became very friendly. So much that it was sitting on my wife's arm for a bit. I believe he flew down and landed on the bench next to us, looked right at me, and said "you better snap these pics.". Either that or he said "hold my beer". I can't decided..

The Running Trail

The Running Trail. A few weekends ago, I took my GoPro with me on a run through the woods. As I came up a hill the sun had finally come out and was coming through the trees. I absolutely love running on this trail in Thetis Lake Regional Park..

Hidden Oasis

Hidden Oasis. Reviewed some of my shots from Hawaii tonight, and stumbled across this GoPro shot as we were leaving this little oasis in the Bamboo Forest just off the road to Hana. We ended up swimming here and I spent some time climbing on the rocks under the waterfall. Super fun times, glad I looked over my shoulder as I was leaving..

Mangled and Beached

Mangled and Beached. Another great shot I just love from shooting at Saxe Point with @pacificphoto. He has such a knack for finding those forground objects. He found this one first and i'm dying to see his shot, this was my best attempt. Super happy with how it turned out..

The Calm at Sunset

The Calm at Sunset. Happy Earth Day, and look at the colours provided by our earth! This shot caught my attention with the deep blues of the ocean and the firey red rocks from the sunset. Really enjoyed shooting tonight with @pacificphoto..

Wandering in a Dream

Wandering in a Dream. The trees here in on the west coast are absolutely beautiful. Today I'm headed out to hike down mysterious trails like this one one again. Where does this one go? Happy Earth Day..

Red Little Man

Red Little Man. I was on a hike today with my family and we were out in the woods on Royal Roads University property and I rounded one of the corners on the path, and felt like someone was watching me. I looked around and found this little red man was!.

The Organ House

The Organ House. This house at Buchart has always drawn my camera. It's nestled into the garden and you wonder what it's like when those big windows open on the second floor. If you look back through my gallery, you'll see it again. Such a cool little house..

Purple Striped Spring

Purple Striped Spring. I've captured Crocus' before, but never stripped ones. Of course you find the best of the best at Buchart Gardens, but you have to wonder if they were genetically modified? What do you think?.

10 feet down

10 feet down. I've been impressed with my GoPro Hero5 Session, but it did *amazing* in Hawai'i. I snorkled with it many times and got some pretty epic shots. Prepare to see them over the coming week(s). This was one of the first snaps I got on my first day out in the ocean. The purple coral was just exploding, I lucked out with the fish in the background, although there were tons, so maybe it wasn't so lucky..

Morning Reflection

Morning Reflection. A few weeks back I was out shooting at sunrise and captured this image at the Gorge Waterway. It was a grey morning and I was about to leave when the sun just popped between the trees..

Fountain of Silk

Fountain of Silk. The other day when I was out on the town at night, I wanted to try my hand at the Parliament building fountain. I've seen this at night many time but this is the first time I had been there. What do you think? How is my interpretation of the fountain?.

The Gorge

The Gorge. The other day I was at the Gorge for sunrise, because it's such a nice walk. I can't believe people live here! I enjoyed my morning watching the sun come up. It's been raining ever since. :(.

Morning Park

Morning Park. The Gorge Waterway in Victoria is a beautiful walk. I got up early this morning to see what it was going to be like before there was people there. I still don't know. Lots of folks out walking for the sunrise. I managed to sneak off to the side to get a people-free shot of the sunrise. I love the mood in this shot..

Her Magesty, The Empress (1 of 2)

Her Magesty, The Empress (1 of 2). It's hard to believe that this time last year The Empress was covered in ivy. Apparently it was causing structural damage. What was amazing, is the scafolding over the summer that they put up had an empess cover, so it looked like this as soon as the scafolding went up. Impressive attention to detail..

Her Magesty, The Empress (2 of 2)

Her Magesty, The Empress (2 of 2). This is the side door to The Empress which I find more impressive than the front, as the new section and new parking cover were added to fit right in with the original design. Such a beautiful hotel worthy of the inner harbour..
