#Project365 – One Month Down…
Well, I am one month into the #Project365 (Started July 19th!) and I’m glad I’m doing this. I’m having more and more fun as the project continues. I’ve already learnt a ton and I’m very happy to have a forcing function to exercise the creative side of my brain on a daily basis.
I’ve taken over 30 photos at this point. some that I’m super proud of, and some that I wish I could delete (but I’m not going to!).
Learning's to date:
- Don’t rush the photo of the day, keep your eye open. Capture a moment and think if it’s the right photo for the day
- Have a back-up plan. Working from home often leads me to run out of creative Ideas. So I’ve discovered that if I have a backup photo ready, I get something posted on that day
- People tend to like creative thinking, and new types of photos.
Of course there are more learning's specific to Instagram (my sharing platform for the #Project365) like:
- Making sure that I tag my photos appropriately for location and content so they can be found. This is the fun part as I like to see the likes that come in, and then explore the other person’s photo set.
- Taking the photo outside of Instagram and then running it through SnapSeed editing prior to importing into Instagram seems to make some more interesting photos and of the highest quality you can get

Floating Mt. Rainer
Again from Kerry Park in Queen Ann, I snapped this one when I first found the park in 2003. I love how Mt. Rainer just floats over the city as if it's part of the clouds. Clearly there were no clouds on this particular day. View larger version on Flickr.

Pink and Blue
Visiting the Multnomah Falls in Portland, OR was pretty awesome, except that it was the foggiest, rainiest day ever. And with a wife who's not into photography, it's hard to get the images you want. Also, it's virtually impossible to go during peak time and get an empty waterfall. So I decided to emphasis that fact with the Pink, Blue and Black umbrella's looking up at the falls. Hatley Castle in January
Managed to get out and snap this HDR image over the weekend. Hatley Castle is the filming location for X-Men's "Xavier's school for gifted youngsters". It's a great place to go and shoot images. View larger version on Flickr.

Suspension under Sky
Visiting Tolt Hill Park in Carnation later last year to give my friend some tips on HDR photography, I placed my camera on the solid part of the suspension bridge (to prevent sway) and snapped this wonderful HDR. The bridge was what caught my eye, but the sky is what makes me like this photo. View larger version on Flickr.

#Project365 - A Whole Year of Photos
Hi Folks, a brief interlude from the photos here to let you know that I’ve decided (albeit a little late) to do a #Project365. I started on 1/19/2012, and I plan on continuing until 1/19/2013. My goals are to:
- Force myself to think about composition daily
- Capture things that I find interesting for an entire year
- Work on my creativity and out of the box thinking with images in hopes to improve my actual photography that you see on this site
I am also going to put some limits on myself. I plan on using Instagram only, this means that my images, while posted to my @SeanDaniel twitter feed, will also be posted
- To my Instagrid as well as to
- My Tumblr feed.
That’s it. We’ll find out in 362 days if I’m successful. Wish me luck.
Victoria in Snow
As the snow starts to melt from Victoria I think back to how often we actually get snow. Hardly at all. I can only remember 2006 (when this photo was taken) and 2008 when I first officially moved here. This is a shot I took in 2006 walking around the Inner harbour in the snow. Banyan Square
Another older shot from 2006. The Banyan tree in Lahaina, HI on the Island of Maui is quite impressive, it fills an entire square of the city. I just happened to snap this cyclist walking under the many branches. View larger version on Flickr.
